It’s that time of year again… and the race is on!

At Upfront, one of our highlights of the summer season is always the Listowel Races Summer Festival Meeting. For many years now, we have been tasked with the job of organising the plethora of style events which dominate this iconic race meeting and this year, you’re all in for a treat!

It’s time to get your family and friends together and enjoy the legendary festive atmosphere that makes Listowel Races such a magical and memorable day out. Experience the thrills on the course of one day of the national hunt and two days of flat racing. As well as, the craic off the course with live music, a woolly pet farm and entertainment for all the family!

When is the Listowel Races Summer Festival Meeting?

The 3-day meeting takes place from Saturday 3rd to Monday 5th, providing the perfect set of plans for the June bank holiday weekend.

The Listowel Races Summer Meeting is the first of two meetings at the scenic Listowel Race Course, with the second 7-day Harvest Racing Festival meeting from Sunday 17th to Saturday 23rd of September 2023.

How much is admission to Listowel Races?

There are a variety of different packages to choose from, for our avid racing fans and our corporate clients.

Admission is only €15, with a discounted rate of €12 for students and OAPs and free entry for children under 12 when accompanied by an adult. Or, take the girls out for the weekend, with generous group discounts also available!

If you’re planning a work outing, treat yourself and your colleagues to a VIP experience with excellent corporate entertainment packages. This June there is an exceptional VIP Hospitality Package on Sunday 4th of June for only €59 which includes admission to the course and VIP corporate area, a sumptuous 3-course meal, your own table for the day, tote and waiter service.

When are the fashion events at the Listowel Races Summer Meeting?

As well as serious racing and fun, Listowel Races is known for its sensational style! One of the highlights of the summer meeting is the fashion events.

Judges

‘Style Stakes Sunday’ is always an incredible event, where the course is filled with fashionable fascinators and sensational style all around!

This year, judged by top international fashion designer, Colin Horgan, who has dressed such A-list celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Tolu Makay and Mabel, it promises to attract large crowds from all over the country. Judging will commence on course at 1.30 pm, with overall winners announced in the parade ring after the 5th race.

So, it goes without saying, you better get outfit planning now!

Prizes

This year, Listowel Races have ensured it will be winner alright with generous €500 cash prizes for both the Best Dressed Man and Best Dressed Lady on ‘Style Stakes Sunday’, which takes place on the 4th of June.

The first runner-up in each category will also receive a luxury overnight stay in the wonderful The Montenotte Hotel Cork.

Racing highlights at the Listowel Summer Festival

Racing highlights over the Summer festival include the Irish EBF Median Sires Series Maiden of €25,000 on Saturday 3rd; the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden of €15,000 on Sunday 4th and the Join Racing TV Now Handicap Hurdle of € 22,000 on Monday 5th of June.

With style stakes & racing covered, there is plenty more going on for all the family at this year’s festival.

Ireland’s favourite mobile petting farm - ‘Wooly Pet Farm’ is back by popular demand on Sunday 4th of June. Both a tactile and fun experience, it’s the perfect place to entertain the little ones and has the opportunity to meet lots of different animals in a caring and animal-friendly environment.

So, you want to know who won at the Races?

As promised, the brilliant sunshine brought out sensational style at Listowel Races Summer Festival on Sunday 4th of June. The overall winners were Robert Yamac from Shanagolden and Moira O’Toole from Kilkenny, who both received a cheque for €500 — kindly sponsored by Listowel Race Company.

The first runner-up in each category was Leon Ruxton from Cork and Maggie-Ann Fleming from Brosna, who received a luxury overnight stay in the wonderful Montenotte Hotel in Cork.
