Day 7: Saturday 28th of September
Pre-loved Louise Kennedy Suit wins at Sustainable Style Saturday
Elegant in a pre-loved embellished Louise Kennedy cream skirt suit, Niamh Lordan, from Listowel, was declared the “Most Sustainable Attired Race-goer” at the popular Listowel Tidy Towns / An Taisce fashion event on Sustainable Style Saturday at the closing day of the Listowel Harvest Racing Festival. She received €500 cash sponsored by Listowel Race Company. The first runner up Lorraine O’Hanlon (Listowel) received €100 sponsored by Oonagh Chemco Pharmacy.
Judged by sustainability advocate and fashion personality Orlagh Winters, Maria Stack (Ardfert) won the dedicated new 1980’s category and received a €300 cash prize sponsored by Con McCarthy Brokers. The first runner-up in the 1980’s category was Tracey Donator (Kilmallock, Co. Limerick).
Anna Mai Broderick was the winner of the new Most Sustainable under 16’s Outfit and received €100 sponsored by John McGuire Pharmacy and the first runner up was Shauna Russell (Listowel).
Orlagh Winters awarded a special mention to Kathleen Flaherty (Listowel) for her beautiful chocolate ensemble originally purchased 20 years ago in Annettes in Abbeyfeale.
Congratulations to Listowel Tidy Towns organisers Mary Hanlon, Imelda Murphy and all the team on making this such a wonderful event. There was also an abundance of spot prizes and gifts for members of the audience kindly sponsored by the businesses of Listowel Town.
Sustainable fashion is one of the many important changes we can make to protect our planet into the future. Listowel Races is delighted to support this event for 13 years making this the first race course in Ireland to host a sustainable fashion event.

All that shimmers …
Bukola Duyile shimmers in gold to win the McElligotts Kia Ladies Day at Listowel Harvest Races
Bukola Duyile stuck gold when Ladies Day judges international top model and author Rosanna Davison and award-winning fashion designer Heidi Higgins spotted her shimmering in the warm September Sunshine at the Ladies Day at Listowel Races (Friday 27th September) and awarded her the coveted title of the McElligotts Kia Best Dressed Lady 2024. Bukola from Tralee, designed and personally made her peplum style trouser suit, accessorised with a matching headpiece she rented from Marc Millinery and shoes and bag by Valentino. She won a trip for two to New York, staying in the iconic Fitzpatrick Hotel in Manhattan, with spending money! The winner of the Most Creative Hat was Mary O’Sullivan from Cork, wearing a statement pink embellished headpiece by Caithriona King millinery and she received a cheque for €1,000. The winner of the Most Contemporary Outfit was Sarah-Anne McCarthy from Cork and she received €500 for her beautiful black and white ensemble rented from completethelook.ie. Each of the 10 finalists received an amazing gift bag kindly sponsored by McGuires Pharmacy in Listowel. After a week of changeable weather, bumper crowds of 28,704 enjoyed the sunshine and sensational style of Ladies Day on the penultimate day of the Listowel Harvest Racing Festival. The 166th Listowel Harvest Racing Festival ran from Sunday 22nd to Saturday 28th of September and featured top-quality national hunt and flat racing and 5 dedicated fashion competitions over the week.

The Art of Style
Top Irish artist, Liam O’Neill, is declared the Ryle Menswear Best Dressed Man at Listowel Races
It may have been raining, but the style shone brightly on the fifth day of the Listowel Harvest Racing Festival as sharp-dressed men from all over the country competed to win the prestigious title of the Ryle Menswear Best Dressed Man.
Judged by Niall Botty O’Callaghan, the race was on as men of all ages in very dapper attire jockeyed for position to win a prize fund valued at €2,000! After much deliberation, Liam O’Neill from Dingle, one of Ireland’s foremost contemporary artists, was declared the overall winner alright and crowned as the Ryle Menswear Best Dressed Man of 2024. Liam won a bespoke suit from Ryle Menswear valued at €1,500. The joint runners-up were Raymond Gilbourne from Limerick and Paudie Horgan from Listowel, who each received a suit from top menswear label Benetti. In addition, Micheal Moran, owner of Ryle Menswear, generously also sponsored 200 gift bags, each containing a designer tie and socks, for those participating in an extraordinarily successful event at Listowel Races.
Day 2: Monday 23rd of September
Forever in Blue Jeans - fashionable and fun event attracts record entries at Listowel Harvest Races
Brothers Michael (6) and Christopher Hellard (4) had a very good day at Listowel Races on Monday (September 23rd) winning the Under 16’s category in the popular Forever in Blue Jeans fashion competition sponsored by O’Connors Hardware and Farms Supplies.
Smartly dressed in race attire of warm autumn jackets and denim blue jeans they caught the event judge, top model and actor, Timmy Dowd’s eye and each went home €50 richer! Margaret Coffey from Listowel proved to be a winner alright in the adult category and won €200 for her stylish denim ensemble of a jacket and matching skirt from Pamela Scott with an embellished blouse from Blossom in Listowel, accessorised with red jewellery and heels.
This is the 3rd year of O’Connors sponsorship of this fashionable and fun event and the prizes were presented by Sadie and Larry O’Connor.

Stylish Racegoers are winners alright on first day of Listowel Harvest Racing Festival
Katrina Galvin was declared the overall winner of the Lyrath Estate Hotel Most Stylish Race-Goer Competition on the opening day of the Listowel Harvest Racing Festival. Judged by well-known beauty professional, Mary O’Donnell, Katrina wore a headpiece from Pamela Scott Tralee and green dress by Hello clothing. Caitriona O’Mahoney, Sales and Marketing Director, of Lyrath Estate Hotel presented Katrina with her prize of two nights accommodation, with dinner on one evening in the magical surroundings of Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny.
The three runners-up were Brendan Mannix, Ballymacelligott; Aidan Moloney, Cork and Shauna Russell, Listowel and each received an overnight stay for two in a Deluxe Room with Breakfast in Lyrath Estate Hotel.
